Ex. 38:21 – 39:32 - The weight of the gold, silver, and bronze Psalm 71 Haftarah: Jeremiah 30:18-25 + 31:7-8, 37-39 Isaiah 32:18 – 33:6, 20

Here is a cool 3d video depicting what the temple may have looked like at the time.

The cost of the tabernacle was somewhere over 100 million dollars in today’s currency.
Some rabbi’s said that it was designed to be “over the top “ so that every sacrifice and offering from any individual would pale in comparison.

Remember, the Tabernacle was only 15ft x 45ft and was designed to be portable because the people were nomadic. It took about 7 months to build and lasted around 440 years until Solomon built the first Temple.

Psalm 71

Continues on the theme of fearing the Lord and seeking refuge in Him.
The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. We often forget that God is not approachable by mere men because of His holiness. He desires for us to be in His presence, but not without the proper reverence and covering, the repercussions are severe. This has been lost in our modern version of Christianity. And if we are honest, we don’t like it. The parable of the wedding feast , and the necessity of having on the proper garment are emphasized in the details of Tabernacle, and in the parable.

Matthew 22: 11-14
“But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. 12 He asked, ‘How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?’ The man was speechless.13 “Then the king told the attendants, ‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’14 “For many are invited, but few are chosen.”

He has made a way through Jesus Christ, the only acceptable sacrifice. God has provided it, we just have to accept it.

Notes on Jeremiah 30:18-25

These verses speak about him drawing us to Himself. It is important to remember that God’s covenant is unilateral. He knew we could not keep our end of the deal, so He took on the responsibility to start and finish the task. It is hard to imagine that the hard-heartedness of the Israelites is actually why we are partakers of this beautiful mystery. We were the ones in the “ highways and byways” that were called to this wonderful feast. (Matt 22.)

Jeremiah 31: 7-8 ( I included 9 ) speaks again to how God will cause us to walk in the straight ( upright, correct, pleasing, proper, righteous ) path. He is our father and we are his children.

Isaiah 32:18 – 33:6, 20

We shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, That habitation is Christ himself. He is our Sabbath. Again with the fear of the Lord !? Yup.

Isaiah 32: 6
And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the Lord is his treasure.

As we studied in the previous readings, the hearts of the people were willing joyful, and wise as they gave their offerings to the Tabernacle with “ wise hearts “

Isaiah 33: 20
” Look Upon Zion the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of its stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords be broken.

Of course, I had to look up the word solemnities because I’d never used it before. It means appointed place, appointed times, sacred season, feasts, appointed seasons

I believe we are actually seeing this as we are studying the triennial cycle. We are seeing the readings and the feasts line up perfectly. The Feasts are the appointed times of God and I believe we are being discipled by Him as we stay faithful to gathering together to see the fullness of Christ in these passages.

The interchangeability of the words Zion and Jerusalem always causes us to take a closer look. Zion is another name for Jerusalem often indicating a more spiritual , and timeless understanding, “ The Jerusalem that now is” ( Gal 4:6 , Rev 21:2 )

As we study and celebrate these feasts together, we are allowed to participate in an ancient understanding of God in our present time.

The Triennial Cycle Readings
These are notes and observations of our fellowship studies of the Triennial Cycle. These readings have been comprised to the best of our knowledge by Scholars. These are the same teachings that Jesus and his disciples undoubtedly followed as they walked together on this earth. The early Church also went through these teachings as foundational to discipleship.
