Ex. 35:30 – 36:38 - Tabernacle built Psalm 69 Haftarah: Isaiah 55:13 – 56:8 + 57:15
Notes:
The Tabernacle is being built exactly according to the plan given to Moses.
The attitude is very different than when the first set of tablets were given, instead of giving of their gold to create and worship the golden calf, they were willingly and joyfully giving toward the building of the temple. Their freewill offering was acceptable to God. These passages speak of the “ willing heart” and “wise hearts” that joyfully submitted to the building of the Tabernacle.
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
This undoubtedly is the difference in attitude of the Israelites. They had seen God’s wrath when they worshipped the golden calf, an idol made with their own hands, and now have been the recipients of his Mercy. We prefer mercy…believe me. The world demands justice, it thinks that justice will produce peace….it does not and cannot. But it’s the best it can do.
When we realize the amount of Mercy we’ve been given, we will automatically give it. God deals with our arrogance and pride in a very real, and merciful way. The byproduct is joyful gratitude and a merry heart, but our hearts must be broken first.
Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise".
So much joy and provision so that there is an abundance, as noted in this week’s readings: Exodus 36:7
Exodus 36:7 For the stuff that they had was sufficient for all the work to make it, and too much”
Resources are never an issue with God, He owns all things, and He cares much more about the heart.
Of course, we now understand that we are the tabernacle in which Christ dwells. This shouldn’t be taken lightly. We hold this treasure in earthen vessels.
2 Cor 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
Lots of interesting revelation in this week’s study. Have a listen, and as always, expansions to the tales in the comments are encouraged.
