Ex. 39:33 – 40:38 - High Priest’s vestments, Tabernacle complete

November 28th, 2024 - Ex. 39:33 – 40:38 - High Priest’s vestments, Tabernacle complete Psalm 72 Haftarah: Isaiah 33:20 – 34:4, 8 Isaiah 60:13-21 + 61:9

Exodus 39:33-40:38

The coverings of the ark in the Tabernacle remind us that he dwells in us as earthen vessels. (2 cor 4:7 )

The gospels speak of being covered with the proper wedding garment. Christ himself. ( Matt 22:11-12 )

The Laver is the method by which the priest was washed to be able to present the sacrifice. This laver was made with the mirrors of the women ( the ones who did not give their gold to the idol ), so it reflects your image and you see that you are unclean, as you are washed you can no longer see yourself because of the blood in the water. Probably tied into Christ’s first miracle of turning water into wine and also John 19:34 in some mysterious way.

The priest could not dress himself, the robe had to be applied by someone else, in a similar fashion we cannot crucify ourselves. We can never complete the job because it is impossible for us to drive that last nail.

These readings are similar to the creation account of Compare Exodus 39:43 to Genesis 1:31 On the 6th day, God saw that His whole creation is Good. And then compare it to the words of Christ in John 19:30. It is finished.

Jesus’ prayers for His disciples reflects Christ being in us and us being in Him. So that we are one. This is what God wanted for the Isrealites.

Psalm 72

The sun and the moon are a type of Christ. When we see that the Christ is the light of the world. The shadows and types of Christ are done away with when Chris is revealed. This is partially celebrated in Hannukah, when we focus on Emmanual, God with us. This also follows in the additional readings:

Isa 60:19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.

Isa 60:20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.

Isaiah 33:20.

This is a repeat from last week’s readings. Zion is the spiritual reality of Jerusalem. The city of solemnities ties in directly to celebrating and recognizing the appointed times ( feasts ) of God. The peace of Jerusalem is within us.

We are bad Pharaohs and are not merciful or gracious to ourselves and therefore cannot be merciful or gracious to others. Ephesians 4:32, Colossians 3:13

The law is now written on our hearts. We are the Gentiles that have been grafted into Christ.

We must see that we are forgiven. This is the basic gospel.

God is merciful to only show us bits and pieces of his Glory. We wouldn’t be able to handle it.

The Triennial Cycle Readings
These are notes and observations of our fellowship studies of the Triennial Cycle. These readings have been comprised to the best of our knowledge by Scholars. These are the same teachings that Jesus and his disciples undoubtedly followed as they walked together on this earth. The early Church also went through these teachings as foundational to discipleship.
